It's about cultivating a love of learning,\ndiscovering each child's unique gifts, and creating memories that last a\nlifetime. But as every homeschooling family knows, those memories often come\nwith a growing stack of paperwork, lesson plans, photos, attendance records,\nand student work that can quickly become overwhelming to organize.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>That's where Chalk & Chart comes in.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>\u003Cb>The\nStory Behind Chalk & Chart\u003C\u002Fb>\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>Homeschooling has always been close to my heart. As a\nsecond-generation homeschooler, I experienced firsthand the flexibility,\ncreativity, and lifelong love of learning that homeschooling can provide. Those\nexperiences shaped not only my education but also my appreciation for the\ndedication it takes to document and preserve each school year.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>When my husband and I began homeschooling, we encountered the same\nchallenges as every homeschool family, especially in highly regulated states\nwith additional requirements: keeping track of attendance, samples of student\nwork, and the curriculum used for learning. After completing two years of\nhomeschooling, and with our previous evaluator complimenting our portfolio\nlayout, we had the idea to develop a better way to design and organize\nhomeschool portfolios. We realized there wasn't a solution that combined\neverything we utilized, along with the additional features we wanted, into one\neasy-to-use platform.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>Professionally, I've spent my career helping people\nnavigate complex systems. My background in healthcare, education, and software\nimplementation has given me experience designing workflows, creating\neducational resources, and helping users get the most from technology. Those\nexperiences taught me that the best software should simplify life, not\ncomplicate it.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>My husband, a professional software developer, shared\nthat same vision. Together, we combined our unique backgrounds to create a\nplatform designed specifically for homeschool families.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>In May 2025, we began designing and developing what would become\nChalk & Chart. What started as an idea around our kitchen table quickly\ngrew into a passion project. The idea of Chalk & Chart took a backseat to\nlife until this year, when we began homeschooling with a new evaluator. After\nour end-of-year evaluation, where she also commented that the way I organized\nmy portfolio was one of the most organized, she had seen, we decided it was\ntime to move forward with developing our platform. Together, we've spent\ncountless hours planning, designing, testing, and refining every feature with\none goal in mind: creating a tool that makes homeschool recordkeeping simple,\norganized, and enjoyable.
